Hello Tuesday!! It's less than a week to roll into the summer. June 21st is officially the first day of summer, so it's basically already here. Aside from the increasing sunshine, I love the abundance of fresh fruits and herbs as I can mix them together on salad or smoothies for a savory kick. Thai basil is one of my favorites, simply because I love its strong aromatic flavor (also maybe because I share the same origin with the herb)
The smoothie combo today is so delicious and refreshing with a lovely kick of Thai basil.
1-2 big chunks of watermelon
2 c frozen mixed berries
1 handful of Thai basil leaves
Blend all ingredients in a blender until smoothie.
Note: I add 2 tbsp of hemp seeds as a good source of plant based protein. The nutty flavor of hemp seeds won't interfere with the refreshing flavor of this combo at all, in case you are not a fan of hemp seeds.
